Making an impact irrespective of challenges faced
Joining IIFT Delhi was nothing short of a dream come true for me. I always had an ambition of studying in one of India’s top B-school. I started working on this dream 3 years back when I was in the final year of my engineering. Like every other MBA aspirant, I joined a CAT coaching institute and joined the rat race of competing with others. I scored 92.10%ile in CAT 2017 and went onto join an MBA program at Delhi School of Economics, Delhi. This is when I faced the first hurdle of my journey. Soon after joining the MBA program, I fell ill to jaundice and missed the crucial first 2 months of my MBA. I was devastated and had to drop out of the program as my health conditions did not allow me to take the rigor of the MBA program that year. Moving on I started preparing for management entrance exams again, this time with even more dedication and higher aims. I wrote CAT 2018 but could not do well. I did not receive calls from even a single institute. This was the second hurdle I faced as my confidence was shattered.
To bring back positivity in my life, I got a job and started working at BYJUS as a sales associate. This was the most challenging yet beautiful part of my journey. Working at BYJUS
taught me about time management, professionalism and how to respect goals and targets. At BYJUS, I had a client facing role where I got to interact with multiple client coming from different backgrounds and ethnicities. It taught me how to adapt to different situations because psychology of every client used to be different. Challenging part was studying for MBA entrance exams alongside my hectic schedule at BYJUS. And the beautiful part was that I realized where my strength lied, in sales. I tried working with maximum efficiency everyday so that I was able to meet my targets on daily basis and study as well. I was consistently ranked under the top 20 BDA’s at BYJUS and got a lot of recognition from my seniors. My AVP assigned me multiple new projects due to my good performance and I got the highest appraisal after my annual performance review. Simultaneously I was able to perform well in my MBA entrance exams as well. I received calls from many prestigious B- schools of India and this time I grabbed the opportunity. When I look back at my journey, I see struggle, perseverance, smart work and lot of learnings. Now I am a proud student of IIFT Delhi from the batch of 2019-20.
